Wine Tasting

Filed in archive Wine on November 12, 2007

Last August I received a friendly email from a wine maker in the area inviting me to come on over and have a tasting.
You know how these things are...you keep it tucked in the back of your mind and before you know it, a couple of months have passed.
Friday afternoon we finally made it to Château la Bouscade.
And we're so glad we did!

First of all, they are a charming, warm and welcoming couple. Secondly, the wine was delicious!

First we tasted their rosé, which tasted like ripe, summer raspberries with a bit of vanilla. We drink a lot of rosé in the summer, and this could become our new favorite.

The next three were all reds;
The soft, blackcurrant and redcurrant Château la Bouscade AOC Minervois 2005
An intense, black cherry, light vanilla Château la Bouscade syrah AOC Minervois 2005
And the rich plummy, smoky Domaine la Bouscade Old Vine Carignan 2005

What was supposed to be a quick tasting turned into a three hour long enjoyable afternoon of wine and conversation. We'll be going back soon!

Their wines are available in the US from Crown Wine & Spirits and Vinotas Selections.
