More wine to sample in Hermann, Missouri at the Holiday Fare Wine Trail. The wineries in the area are opening their doors this weekend to offer holiday food and wine tastings.
Grape growing and wine making in Hermann and the surrounding countryside have been ongoing since the arrival of the first German settlers in the early 1800s. Hermann has been in the forefront of the Missouri wine industry since 1837, a year after the town was founded. Today, there are seven award-winning wineries within a 15-mile radius of Hermann and more than 40 throughout the state. Early in 2005, the seven local wineries formed the Hermann Vintners' Association. Together, they promote the Hermann Wine Trail and sponsor special events throughout the year.
The French-American Chamber of Commerce in Dallas, Texas is uncorking some fresh wine this Friday at it's annual Beaujolais Nouveau Festival. Go taste this year's crop and enjoy some music and dancing.
The Taste of Cape Cod is on all day Sunday in Cape Cod, Massachusetts offering cooking demonstrations, lots of fresh, regional food and drink to taste as well as dancing in the evening. Several area chefs and restaurants will be showcased.
Just to the south in Rosendale, New York is the 10th Annual International Pickle Festival. Pick out your pickle souvenirs, watch a pickle juice drinking contest or the pickle toss and enjoy live music and dancing. Past Pickle Festivals have celebrated the pickling traditions of Japan and Germany and each year they add a new culture into the mix.
