(tico and Speck are the names of our little dogs)

If you're a dog owner, then I'm pretty sure you have treats around that you use for training. Or just because they're so darn cute and you can't resist giving them a little something. (or is that just me?)
I like to know what is in the food I give to my dogs. The treats at the store are full of bizarre ingredients so I like to make my own. Here are a couple of the recipes that Tico and Speck think are great!
These treats also make wonderful gifts for friends and family with dogs!
Cheese Biscuits
2 cups flour
1 1/4 cups shredded cheddar cheese or swiss cheese
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup vegetable oil
4 tablespoons water
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Combine all the ingredients and knead well, adding water if needed to form stiff dough.
Roll out on floured surface to 1/2 inch thick, cut into shapes.
Bake 10-15 minutes until bottom of cookies are lightly browned
Cool completely on wire rack
Easy Peanut Butter Treats
4 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup coarsely ground cornmeal
1 1/3 cup water
1/3 cup smooth peanut butter
1 egg
Combine all ingredients and mix thoroughly.
Knead on a lightly floured surface.
Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness and cut into shapes.
Place biscuits on a non-stick cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for one hour.
