Tanzanian Cuisine
Ruth L. Johnson asks if there were any Tanzanian recipes in Marcus Samuelsson's The Soul of a New Cuisine. I don't remember which ones were Tanzanian, I'm sure he had some but then I wouldn't know any better given that I am not that familiar with African cuisine. I *do* know that the recipes are "doable", except when I tried to find a couple of spices at our local African market here in Cincinnati, and they couldn't help me (I was looking for sumac and one other spice that they knew nothing about, like they've never heard of it -- I don't know what part of African the owners were from).

At any rate, I did find a few other sources for Tanzanian cuisine, in case Ruth comes to visit again:

Best of Regional African Cooking (Hippocrene International Cookbook Series) - has several Tanzanian recipes, also detailing how they are different/similar from how the dish is prepared in another African region
Food Culture in Sub-Saharan Africa (Food Culture around the World) - isn't a recipe book per se, but contains lots of information about how food is prepared and served in the different regions of Africa
A Taste of Africa: Traditional & Modern African Cooking - is like a sampler, with a section devoted to Tanzania
Food and Cooking of Africa and Middle East: A fascinating journey through these rich and diverse cuisines: the culinary history; the ingredients; the techniques and over 150 authentic dishes - Josephine Bacon's book where she features several Tanzanian curries

And on and around the 'net:

Rachel at Walking in Circles is in Tanzania and has several good food posts!
A Tanzanian coconut bean soup recipe from Victoria
Louiselinks Steinway offers several recipes
From the University of Pennsylvania
Miriam seems to be the go-to gal when it comes to Tanzanian recipes! Visit her site at Mirecipe.com or her blog.

The Washington Post did an article last year about Marcus Samuelsson and they've got a collection of his recipes online, here and here.

Now you can get cooking:)
