Gourmet Goodies

I love to try new foods, especially when they come from another country. So image my delight when our friends returned from Belgium with a generous box full of Belgian treats for us to try!

The little tub of Sirop de Liège* was intriguing. The label states that it is made simply of 52% pear juice, 33% apple juice, 15% date juice and sugar.
As I wasn't sure what to do with it, I searched on Google and found a Sirop de Liege website in English that is full of information, including recipes for both savory and sweet uses for the syrup.
I cracked it open and took a taste. Mmmm....really delicious, sweet flavor that reminds me of apple butter. I could easily become addicted to this stuff!

*Sirop means syrup in French and Liège is a town in Belgium.
