Show Us Your Cookbooks
Filed in archive Books (and Mags) for Cooks , Food Blogosphere on August 19, 2007
Food events are going on all over the blogosphere at any given time. Is My Blog Burning? tracks these events which range from wine tasting and pairing challenges to food photography challenges to celebrating an ingredient challenges, just to name a few.
The folks over at YumSugar are hosting a One Off Event entitled, Show Us Your Cookbooks. The rules are simple. Take a picture of yourself with your favorite cookbook, write a sentence explaining why you chose that particular book then send them the info by August 24. They'll do a round-up of all the entries and post them shortly thereafter.
Choosing just one cookbook wasn't easy! Seasons change and cravings come and go, so "my favorite cookbook" changes with them.
Currently, because it is new (thank you mom!) and an amazing book, The Encyclopedia of Cajun and Creole Cuisine by John D. Folse is my favorite. This huge, extensively researched tome has over 700 recipes, and the chapters on Louisiana history, which chart the evolution of it's food, should keep me occupied through most of the winter.
