Rosh Hashana, a celebration of the Jewish New Year, begins this evening. Traditional recipes focus on honey, fish, fruit and sweet foods all of which symoblize glad tidings, appreciations and good wishes for the New Year.

On every celebration table tonight you'll also surely find challah, a sweet and eggy braided bread that, to me, is one of the most delicious baked foods on the planet. Challah can be found in most major grocery store bakeries these days but if your fortunate to have a privately owned Jewish bakery nearby, that is defintely the place to go. If you want to try making the bread on your own, here's a wonderful recipe. And if you're in the mood for high-tech challah, here's a recipe for your bread machine.
