Miami Book Fair International

As if Miami wasn't already one of the greatest places to visit, now here's another reason: the Miami Book Fair International. Held at the Miami Fairgrounds November 13-20, this huge event attracts well known authors from all over the world who will be on hand to sign books, chat with the public, and participate in readings and panel discussions.

In addtion to literary notables like Margaret Atwood, Joan Didion and Mike Wallace, eventgoers will also get a chance to rub elbows with foodies like Ted Allen (The Food You Want To Eat: 100 Smart, Simple Recipes), Daisy Martinez (Daisy Cooks), and Steven A. Shaw (Turning the Tables: Restaurants From the Inside Out). See the complete list of confirmed authors here.

Take the family and let the kids romp around in Children's Alley where they'll have and arts & crafts, storytime, and loads of interactive activities. Then stroll through the International Pavillions, a "global village" of sorts, where countries from around the world will showcase the best of their culture's food, wine and literature.

There are tons of hotels near the Fairgrounds and free parking is available at a nearby parking garage. I'm not that far from Miami and, frankly, I can't think of a reason not to go. It sounds like great fun.
