Remember the presents my friend Genie brought me from Paris? Earlier, I featured the Fleur de Sel and now the Sésame au Thé Vert (seasoning of green tea flakes and roasted sesame seeds) from the renowned tea and spice maker Mariage Frères.
On the tin, it lists the ingredients as sesame seeds, green tea, seaweed, dried plum, shiso & dried fish powder, salt and sugar. The recommended uses are as seasoning for salads, crudités (raw vegetables), cooked vegetables, fish, rice, pasta, gratin, pies, eggs and soup.
This is quite a novel spice for me. I have never worked on something with this combination. It sounds (and tastes) so fusion! However, that has never prevented me from being curious and experimenting. I can't wait to test it on a leisurely weekend!
