Making Pizza on the Grill

Every so often I become curious to see what's new in the world of kitchen gadgetry so I do a bit of computer screen shopping (same as window shopping - when you're looking, not buying - but doing it from the comfort of your desk chair) at various sites such as Sur la Table, Williams-Sonoma and cooking.com.
Both Sur la Table's and Williams-Sonoma
's sites opened today with mouthwatering photos of pizzas on a special stone plaque on top of an outdoor grill.
Is this a new trend? What happened to placing the dough directly on the grill to achieve bubbly cheese and sauce and those lovely little burnt spots of dough?

Does anyone own one of these? If so, do they work well? Would you recommend buying one to your friends?
