Languedoc-Roussillon Wine

Filed in archive Wine on October 2, 2007

We live in a beautiful area of France that is one of the oldest wine making regions in the world. Until recently, mass overproduction made sure that the region was known for making wine but not for the quality of it's wine.

The Languedoc-Roussillon was the producer of ordinary, everyday table wine.
a.k.a. plonk

All that has changed.

The Languedoc is now embracing the future and has distinguished itself as a wine making region that is respected both for quality and price.

Here are some of our favorite local wine makers. Most are available in the US.

Domaine la Prade Mari
Château Sainte Eulalie
Château de Gourgazaud
Domaine Bourie de Maurel
Domaine Coudoulet
Domaine de Barroubio
Chateau Jonquières
Domaine d'Aupilhac

Also, the Languedoc-Roussillon AOC Wines have an excellent website.
