Ketchup Bottle as Pancake Batter Dispenser

It's always fun to have kids in the kitchen and copy what Mom does, but whenever my children want to "help" in the kitchen, everything just gets messier and all chores takes double, if not triple, the time it normally would. Nevertheless, whenever they want to get into the action, I always try to get them involved in some way: cutting carrots, beating eggs, measuring flour, washing potatoes... y'know, those tasks they can't really goof up in or doesn't really matter if they do.

Making pancakes is another activity my son in particular loves to participate in. There's something fascinating about mixing batter, ladling into the pan, and watching it turn into what actually resembles a pancake. But, oh the mess!

And then, I stumbled into this tip: using an old ketchup plastic bottle to dispense pancakes! Not only has the mess been drastically reduced, it makes it much easier to make uniformly sized pancakes! Nifty!
