gingerbread cake from Joy of Baking

It must be the season! I'm in a baking mood lately. I've made some carrot cake and banana muffins and tomorrow I might try my hand at a new bread recipe. A craving for eclairs, or is it tea bread? How about a gateau? I'll go around the blogs for some ideas.

However, here's one website I have frequented even in pre-blog days - Joy of Baking by Stephanie Jaworski. The site not only contains very good recipes (I have personally tried several and they do not disappoint) but a backgrounder for each too. It also comes with very good sections on substitutions, volume to weight conversions (each recipe has both) and on temperature conversions too. It has "sister sites" which are specific to cakes, muffins, tarts, etc.

Drop by Joyofbaking.com and you'll surely be a regular visitor!

Oh, that gingerbread cake is beckoning... mmmmmmm...
