Jello Playdough
So it's not edible, but you still cook it right?

This is for my fellow moms and/or teachers out there... Jell-O Playdough. Easy, fun, and smells really good.

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 3-oz box of your favorite Jello color
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
1 cup water
1/2 cup salt
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Combine everything in a saucepan and cook over low heat until everything comes together and starts to solidify. Take out of pan and knead with hands (oiled if you like, but not necessary) on flat surface, until smooth and evenly colored. When cool, store in airtight container. This lasts a long time if kept in its storage container when not in use.

I let the kids mix their own, as you can see here. I've also tried doing this in the microwave, cooking in 15-30 second increments (depending on your microwave's power) and stopping just at the point when it's starting to dry up but there's still some liquid left. In our zapper that means about 1 1/2 minutes, which is quite a bit of time saved over standing at the stove stirring.

The salt is supposed to stop kids from eating this; HOWEVER, I have known kids to try and actually LIKE it. So do look in from time to time to make sure they're not having it for lunch.
