Have You Changed The Way You Shop For Food?
Filed in archive Food for Thought on October 4, 2008
As food and fuel prices go up and concern about the economy reaches a pinnacle, I'm curious to hear how my readers here at Like to Cook are coping.

Have you made changes to your grocery shopping habits?
Are you eating out less?

Yes I no longer go to the supermarket and do a big weekly shop. I go there only for items, like washing powder, cleaning items, and cat food, rice, Pasta and tins and items I can't get here. I stock up on all items I use a lot of, especially if on special offer. I buy my meat daily, veg daily in the local shops in my village, I think it was a case of if I saw it I bought it.

Sharyn,
Thanks for sharing your ideas with me! I loved getting my organic veg box last summer and will do it again as soon as I can find one in my area.
Looks like an interesting site. :)

That sounds similar to how we shop. I try to do as much as I can either in the village or at the weekly market which is just a few miles away.

I shop online (save money on gas and sales taxes, plus diminish impulse shopping) and get cash back from every purchase. Second, I joined a local organic food co-op, so every two weeks I get several pounds of organic fruits and vegetables. My grocery market/drugstore bills are almost nil these days and gas goes a lot further.
