February At The Farmer's Market
Filed in archive From Garden to Table on February 6, 2008
Each month brings its unique flavors to the farmer's markets. February is no exception.

The shortest month of the year offers plenty of healthy fruit, vegetables and seafood, some of which are in season for just a brief time. So take advantage and savor these seasonal delights!
In the northern hemisphere there are plenty of tubers and root vegetables on offer such as parsnips, carrots, sweet potatoes, sunchokes, shallots, celeraic and turnips.
Cabbage, kale, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, leeks and Belgian endive are readily available and at their peak.
Citrus fruit continues to be excellent and pears and apples are still available, though winding down.
February is also a good time to enjoy salmon, mussels, herring and turbot.
