Kitchen & Tableware
by karen on August 8, 2006

I guess food blogging has really turned my world around! Mike and I were discussing what I can do with good blocks of wood that I have in the yard. Not having any experience with woodwork, all I can think of was small pieces of furniture. He told me to have some made into charger plates. Charger plates? I hardly do formal entertaining and charger plates don't go well with my laidback motif.
For the uninitiated, charger plates are meant to protect table linen from china. According to Mike, I don't have to entertain formally to use charger plates. They can be used in lieu of placemats. Using them won't make my table setting formal, just nice and special. Hmmm... wonderful idea! Fine then, I'll have a set made and perhaps make my food blog photos look more decent. Hehehe!
Surfing around, I found some very elegant chargers from Crate and Barrel (above photo) and Gala Source. They can all be used for both formal and informal settings. Now, I really do intend to have some made.
