Does the world need an SMS tea kettle?
Filed in archive Gadgets by lisa on October 16, 2005

Of all the Bizarre cooking gadgets to grace the planet, this one has to be the strangest ever. Jayvee at Cellphone9 has a story about the SMS Kettle. It's called Ready When UR and it can be remotely activated by sending an SMS message from your cell phone to the kettles receiver. It will then switch on and you'll have piping hot water the minute you walk in your door.

I can't find the thing actually for sale anywhere so perhaps it's not available on the open market yet. I can't imagine there's any big hurry, however, since humans have managed to exist this long without needing their tea water to boil five minutes before they get home. Which begs the question, if you can't spare five minutes to wait for hot water, why are you so busy in the first place?
