Do not think on an empty stomach

hot noodle soup

... about food that is!

Yesterday, I tackled a whole load of work and in the early evening realised I only ate a small sandwich the whole day! After finishing a deskful of papers and what-have-you, I just suddenly felt famished!

Too tired, instead of cooking I went out and thought of getting some food to go (take-away). Starved as starved can get, I ordered a hot Noodle soup, some barbeque and a cold drink. I even stopped by to get a pint of ice cream.

Back home and obviously refreshed by the walk, I realised I bought too much! I was thinking with my gut. Well, I suppose I could gobble everything up but I didn't really need or want to.

Insight: if we don't stop and think about what we eat, especially when we're tired and stressed out, we usually eat too much. That's not even talking about the convenience food we mindlessly ingest.

Next time I find myself in this situation, I'll stop and drink a cup of tea and eat a saltine before I think of ordering anything.
