Coca-Cola, proudly deep-fried

deep-fried Coke from the Texas State Fair

Sometime back, I found a news article on various foodstuff found in state fairs. There's this one peculiarity, fried Coke. It has been a few weeks and the coverage hasn't let up.

Fried Coke is "a batter mix made with Coca-Cola syrup, a drizzle of strawberry syrup, and some strawberries". The batter is formed into balls and then "then deep-fried, ending up like ping-pong ball sized doughnuts which are then served in a cup, topped with Coca-Cola syrup, whipped cream, cinnamon sugar and a cherry on the top".

What can I say? It sounds extreme, really over the top. But if I found myself anywhere near the State Fair grounds, I'd probably buy myself a cup, just for the sake of trying - and then exercise for hours afterwards!

If I went to a state fair with all those deep-fried food for consecutive days, I am sure a week of fasting and exercise would follow. Seriously!

State Fairs are a baaaaaad baaaaaaaaad place to go if you are on a diet, or if you are just particular about what you eat. After all, it's at these fairs that the deep fried candy bars, twinkies and all other sorts of fried anything were invented. Personally, I can't stand them. Too much sugar with oil sends me to dizzying spells.

Wow! That is bad if you are on a diet! :) But I wouldn't mind tasting it :) The fried mars bar thing is interesting, any recipe for that? When you are done eating all this you ahve to pop over to my Daily Power Walk and do some exerise :)

Have you seen this movie "super size me" ? It's about this guy that plans to prove how harmful junk food is by only eating McDonald's food for a month. The movie is absolutely brilliant, it gets you thinking. Same with baked Coca-Cola, can't even imagine how harmful it is to your health.
