These two flavors are from Seattle Chocolates' Truffle Bar collection. Their cocoa beans, from West Africa, are
conched and formulated in Germany, then sent to Seattle where they make these confections. Their packaging is definitely an eye-catcher. Of the two shown here (Pike Place Espresso and Extreme Chocolate), I prefer the one with cocoa nibs. I'm personally proud of these chocs because they're made right here in the good ol' US of A, however, compared to Belgian chocolates I think Seattle's still has a bit of room for improvement. They've got the balance of sweet and bitter almost perfect, but I'd like an initial bite that's a little friendlier to my teeth. (Yes, of course the chocolates were at room temperature when I bit into them.) However, I am not a chocolate connoisseur and at this price range I'd say Seattle gives you a bit more oomph for your money than other chocolates. For a few cents more, however, I'd go for the
Vosges.
