Cheese is making a comeback.
In the past couple of months there have been two comprehensive, informative cheese guides released for the cheese novice or enthusiast. I mentioned one last week, The Cheese Lover's Companion by Sharon Herbst, and just stumbled upon another this morning, The Atlas of American Cheese by Jeffrey Roberts.

The Atlas of American Cheese is the first of its kind. More than 350 small scale cheese producers across America are celebrated in a book that all cheese lovers need to own.
The Cheese Lover's Companion is an easy to use, A-Z guide of more than 500 cheeses from around the world. It includes wine and cheese pairing advice and information on how to store and serve cheese.
But the celebration of cheese doesn't stop there. In just a few weeks time there is an event in Italy that will be a mecca for cheese addicts. Slow Food is hosting an international cheese event from September 21-24 in Bra, Italy. I'm hoping to go and taste and be surrounded by smelly, delicious cheese!
Since April I've been slowly tasting my way through France's more than 340 cheeses. I call it La Fête du Fromage and post about it each week on Chez Loulou. So far I've tasted about 44. Only 300 more to go...
