Book of Rai Forum

One of the reasons why I love reading about food online is how I also learn about cultures I might never have encountered elsewhere. Not only do I find out about the different ways of cooking in other places of the world but I also read about how other ordinary citizens in other parts of the world live. What do they have on ordinary days, on special occasions, when seasons change, when they feel adventurous, when they feel like staying in, etc.

Sometimes, I also find out someone from halfway across the globe cooked the same thing I cooked for lunch. Or uses the same method of cooking that my grandaunt uses. Or that there are threads that bind certain seemingly unconnected cultures.

Of the several food forums that I am a part of, the Book of Rai Forum stands out as being the most tolerant and culturally diverse. There are discussions on how to make your own couscous, frog legs, the ecology and anthropology of food, and a healthy dose of religion, politics and culture as it relates to food.

Aside from the really stimulating discussions, the members are also very nice!
