I thought of making a list and writing a post about the Five Ingredients That I Always Have In My Kitchen. Then I realized that a list of five is way too limiting, so...should I make a list of ten instead? And do I leave out the staples such as flour, sugar, oil, salt, pepper, spices?
Yes. OK.
So ten ingredients, other than staples, that I always have in my kitchen. But, as I looked around I quickly changed my mind again. Twenty! That's it! That's the right number!

Here's my list of Twenty Ingredients That I Always Have in My Kitchen.
canned tomatoes
tubes of tomato paste
rice
at least one kind of pasta
cornmeal or polenta
dried beans
Parmesan cheese
garlic
onions

potatoes
lemons
chocolate
peanut butter
frozen baby peas
pine nuts
plain yogurt
thick cut bacon
chili paste
fish sauce
soy sauce
